- Long-Lasting: Durable and resilient, our wax maintains its grip and performance session after session, reducing the need for frequent reapplication.
Follow our guide below to create an ultra-grippy layer of surf wax to keep you surfing and not slippy all day long. Our wax won't stick to your wetsuit, melt in your car or leave a toxic stain on the planet.
Step 1: Start With a Clean Board
For best results, begin with a clean deck.
- Remove any old wax completely using a wax comb and warm up old wax in the sun or with a hair dryer for easier removal.
A clean base allows Rad Wax to bond properly and last longer.
Step 2: Apply a Base Layer
The base layer is best for long-lasting grip.
- Using the Rad Wax bar, apply firm pressure.
- Wax in small circular motions or a criss-cross pattern.
- Continue until a light, even texture covers the standing and paddling area of your board.
Step 3: Build the Grip
Once the base layer is in place:
- Go over the same area again to build small bumps.
- Focus on where your front foot and back foot naturally sit.
Rad Wax is designed to create grip efficiently, so build gradually. Take your time to create this foundation layer.
Step 4: Match the Wax to the Water Temperature
Always use the correct Rad Wax temperature for the conditions.
- Using wax that is too warm can feel slippery.
- Using wax that is too cold can feel hard and ineffective.
If water temperatures change significantly, adjust your wax accordingly.
Step 5: Maintain Your Wax
Regular maintenance keeps performance high.
- Lightly re-wax before sessions as needed.
- Avoid over-layering old, dirty wax.
- When grip starts to fade or the wax becomes smooth, strip back and reapply.
Step 6: Store Safely
To protect both performance and the product:
- Store your wax out of direct sunlight.
- Keep it in a cool place when not in use.
- Use Rad Wax box or keep safe tins to protect your wax.
